Eggfood and protein additives are extremely important for birds. When birds are molting or breeding, they are at an especially high risk of a protein deficiency. For example, when a female budgie is breeding, her protein needs increase by as much as 10 times. Seeds tend to be low in protein among other essential nutrients, and pellets don't always fulfill the entire protein needs. Eggfoods and protein foods are available in large quantities for multi-bird households and breeders.
